Week 1
This is my final semester in the MSN program here at CSULA, and counting my undergraduate years, I have been at this campus for a total of seven years. This program is coming to an end, and it feels so refreshing to be in a course that is different from the rest.
When I found out this course is going to be 100% online, I was a little unsure and skeptical. I have been strongly against online courses since I was an undergraduate and did everything I could to avoid it. The course I took was a music history class and that course consisted of reading assigned books, and taking weekly quizzes. There were no collaborative work, and even though my friends were taking the same class as me, I truly felt isolated. However, this class started a little different and it is a course I'm genuinely excited for and I am not exaggerating one bit!
Last week, it took me hours to get my blogger semi close to the way I wanted. I wanted to create something simple, yet shows who I am. I want to say that I looked up and tried to apply at least ten different themes, and most did not do what I wanted it to, so I ended up sticking to the blogger defaults and personalized it a little. To be honest, I got a little frustrated the first day I was working on it, and had to stop and reattempt it the next day.
Something new I learned this week was about the binary concept/codes. Computers can only understand two digits? Who knew? Definitely not me.
Also, I tried to spend some time looking of how Google can be used in the classroom setting and tried to play around with the program, but I could not without creating a class or joining a class. So instead, I watched this video: About Google Classroom and saw how it would be useful to have this available for students. I hope I get a chance to use this program sometime in the future.
I am slightly nervous, but also excited to see what the rest of this class will consist of. I hope I can do well this semester.
